Living farther from work doesn’t just add commute time; it adds decision fatigue, planning, and coordination to every day. In contrast, locations closer to IT hubs, especially when paired with managed living setups, reduce both travel and life admin, making everyday routines significantly smoother.

A ₹12,000 PG in Hinjawadi puts you within 5 km of major IT employers, while the same budget in Kothrud means 12-15 km commutes that can stretch to 90 minutes during monsoons. When calculating true monthly costs, factor in transport: ₹3,000-5,000 in Uber/Ola rides or 2-3 hours daily in company cabs.

For professionals working in Hinjawadi or Wakad, living in South Pune rarely makes financial sense unless your employer covers transport. The shift has led many to explore fully serviced rentals like Yukio Coliving in North Pune, all-inclusive models that bundle meals, housekeeping, and proximity to work, eliminating the hassles of brokers and commute costs that plague traditional flat rentals.

Flats in North Pune typically require a brokerage of ₹15,000-20,000, a 2-month security deposit, and furniture investment. South Pune commands 15-20% higher rents for comparable space but offers better neighborhoods if you’re planning long-term stability.
